Planting a fruit seed may be hard, but it is worth the effort to see your tree! I have made a guide to guide you through getting your seed to a tree. Good luck planting!

How to Grow a Sweet Cherry Tree from Seeds
1. Extract and Prepare Seeds
Take the pits (seeds) out of ripe sweet cherries.
Clean off any fruit residue and allow the pits to dry for several days.
2. Cold Stratification
Sweet cherry seeds need cold stratification to sprout.
Place the cleaned pits in a damp paper towel or peat moss.
Seal them in a plastic bag and refrigerate at 34–40°F (1–4°C) for 10–12 weeks.
Check occasionally to ensure they do not mold or dry out.
3. Plant the Seeds
After stratification:
Select small pots with good drainage.
Fill with potting soil or a mix of compost and sand.
Plant seeds about 1–2 inches deep.
Water lightly and place in a sunny window or outside after the risk of frost has passed.
4. Care and Growth
Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.
Once seedlings reach 4–6 inches in height, transplant them to larger pots or directly into the ground if outdoor conditions are suitable.
5. Transplanting Outdoors
Select a spot with full sunlight and well-draining soil.
Space trees 20–30 feet apart.
Protect young trees from pests and severe weather.
⚠️ Notes:
Trees grown from seeds may not produce fruit identical to the parent tree.
It may take 5–10 years for a cherry tree grown from seed to bear fruit.
Grafted trees are preferred for consistent fruit quality.
